Doreau Tonneliers unveils a limited edition: Collection 30 ans

To celebrate its thirtieth year, Doreau Tonneliers unveils a limited edition of casks: 30 cigar barrels of 300 liters circled with leather, 30 exceptional pieces at the service of wines and spirits.

At Doreau Tonneliers, everything starts in the forest, with the tree selection. A moment suspended, where our experts estimate logs centenarian. Chosen for their nobility, the French oak merrains from our « Collection 30 ans » come exclusively from a selection of extra fine grain: the Thierry Doreau selection. Exceptional woods naturally refined in the open air on our wood park.

At the heart of the Tonnellerie Doreau workshop in Cognac, safe and precise gestures are made exclusively by hand and perpetuate know-how transmitted from generation to generation.

LEATHER WORKSHOPS X DOREAU TONNELIERS

For the first time, Doreau Tonneliers has teamed up with Benoit Lacoste, a saddler craftsman, to create a limited collection.
It is in his workshop in Flaville, a few kilometers from Cognac, that Benoit selected the tanneries that sublimate the barrels of the «30 ans collection».

Tanning, which consists in transforming the animal’s skin into imputrescible leather, has here been carried out using a so-called vegetable process. It is in Bellac, in one of the last French tanneries still practicing the method of vegetable tanning, that the leathers were worked. This ancient tanner technique uses plant-based substances, including oak bark. An eco-responsible production method that offers more durable and durable leathers.

Inspired by noble materials, the design of the «cigar cask» is adorned with leather straps, riveted in copper.
As a true craftsman of excellence, Benoit le bourrelier reveals each curve of the 30 years collection. Its precision bevelling, and its high technicality reveal our exclusive parts.
To enhance them, each cask is placed on a unique steel circle support.
